Where did you grow up?
I was born on a small cow farm in Pownal Maine, but moved to Brunswick, Maine in middle school in order to be closer to friends and travel less for soccer and hockey.
What brought you to Jackson?
While in college at New England College in New Hampshire, I visited my brother whom already lived in Jackson. I instantly knew it would be on my list for after college options.
What motivated you to work for Dave Hansen Whitewater?
After spending a winter in Jackson you are obligated to spend a summer! My brother Kyle, fellow Dave Hansen Manager, recruited me for a summer and the rest is history. I am entering my 14th season at Dave Hansen.
What is your role and responsibilities at work?
Being a small family-owned and operated business, I tend to not get caught up in titles. Ultimately, my three main goals are to ensure our staff feels appreciated, valued, and enjoy their time working for Dave Hansen. I also work to do everything in my power to ensure our guests have the most memorable experience possible. Lastly, I organize and take charge in equipment, and vehicle maintenance. Some call me the “operations manager”.
What are your interests outside of work?
Spending time with my family, seeing my two boys grow, and enjoying life. We all enjoy, skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking, camping, and look forward to introducing the river more frequently. My two boys, Finley and Ford, are 5 and 3 years old.
Do you have any hobbies or passions that influence your work?
I would say my whole life has influenced how I approach work and I how I approach treating other people. Whether that be being raised on a farm or playing competitive sports through college.
What do you love about working at Dave Hansen Whitewater?
Many folks don’t have the unique access to being outside, the ability to explore, and experience things that are outside of their normal daily routine. Having the opportunity to help people get that experience is why I enjoy being here so much, and seeing their smiling faces when they return is the reward!
Any fun facts/unique life experiences about yourself?
In 2015, I was fortunate enough to raft the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon. This trip in itself is an unreal and life altering experience. What made this trip even more memorable is being able to share it with my family. Including my brother, his wife, my dad, and my wife.
