Old West Days with Midland and River Trips

It’s a long weekend off from work, summer is just around the corner, and you are itching for adventure and Music! Memorial Day is the perfect time to visit Jackson to kick off your summer. Here is what us locals recommend doing this weekend in Jackson Hole!

FRIDAY: SCENIC & WHITEWATER RAFTING

Start off the weekend with a bang – get that adrenaline pumping on the whitewater! Warm up to the river on our morning scenic float with beautiful Teton views. Spring is a beautiful time to see the snow-covered Tetons from the river and you have a better chance at seeing wildlife – maybe even a baby moose with its mom! After the scenic float, we will provide some lunchtime fuel and a wetsuit and splash gear for a trip down the whitewater! Water levels are rising and the rapids are a guaranteed good time right now- it will be an experience you won’t forget!

SATURDAY: OLD WEST DAYS

Every Memorial Day weekend, the town of Jackson celebrates its western heritage and cowboy culture by throwing the Old West Days festival. Check out one of the numerous Old West Fest events hosted throughout the week! Some highlights include the first Rodeo of the season, a horse-drawn parade and the Old West Brewfest! Afterwards, channel your inner cowboy and head to one of the many chuckwagon dinners hosted throughout the valley!

SUNDAY: MILLION DOLLAR MUSIC FESTIVAL WITH MIDLAND

This year, the infamous Million Dollar Cowboy bar is hosting the first ever Million Dollar Music Festival. Country group, Midland, will headline the inaugural festival, which offers a free, all-ages, big-stage concert on the Jackson Hole Town Square this sunday from 6-10pm. There will be food and drinks for purchase, so come hungry and ready to dance!

MONDAY: GRAND TETON NATIONAL PARK

One of the many awesome things about Jackson Hole is having a National Park RIGHT in our backyard. Only 20 minutes from downtown Jackson, Grand Teton National Park is a great place to spend a few hours before you head out of town to bike, hike, picnic and scout for wildlife amongst majestic Teton views. The elk are fueling up for their migration, the bears (both Black and Grizzly) are active gathering food after their long winter slumber and moose are roaming around with their newly born offspring. GTNP offers a variety of hikes, from short scenic hikes to longer, full day hikes, so be sure to check in with a Park Ranger and see what hikes are right for your party!
